People
70% of the artisans involved in the process of fabric production for their project are women. Arte Alter empowers weavers by generating sustained employment. They are currently working with 30 hand-weaving clusters from West Bengal. Each cluster has more than 20 textile weavers. Handwoven textiles from these weaving clusters are then made into apparel in the Arte Alter garment manufacturing unit. As a responsible and ethical fashion brand, Arte Alter enables artisans to develop a sustainable livelihood through learning design, enhancing their skills, and help them sustain livelihood.
Planet
They are a slow fashion brand that believes in slowing down the process and not slowing down production. By training the handweavers towards new innovation in textiles they are creating “uncorrupted”, sustainable fashion and lifestyle products with textiles developed in an eco-friendly way. They use natural fibers, like homegrown cotton, linen, silk, and wool to weave the textiles, which decompose naturally and thereby reducing pollution. They also use natural and azo-free dyes for the yarn dyeing process.
