Bareek works with the most progressive makers of materials to craft menswear quality basics and modern wardrobe mainstays. The collection is an exploration of individualistic garments and modern silhouettes that reflect the time-honored heritage techniques of tailoring, craftsmanship, and a visual approach aimed at today's man. All this while preserving the ideas of artistry and local handwork.
By putting in hours on every piece sent out into the world they aren't just revivalists–of loom towns, of breathability & comfort, of unstinting quality & heritage patterns.
Bareek is reimagining these very same traditions for today’s day and age.
Traveled the length and breadth of India to work with some exceptional fabric makers, cooperatives, and self-help groups. From Dastkar in the state of Telangana to graduates of the Handloom School in Maheshwar, Bareek works with NGOs and weaver entrepreneurs alike, to bring craft and talent to the fore. Their efforts have resulted in direct benefits of up to ~50,000 USD for artisans and garment workers.
From working with handlooms that have low tech zero energy requirements to using GOTS certified cotton, right down circular textiles in the form of post-industrial polyester and cotton waste, Bareek fuses Indian craft techniques with sustainable materials to create modern wardrobe mainstays.
