Clan Earth has handcrafted completely plastic-free, cruelty-free, stylish & super-functional carry accessories such as backpacks, wallets, purses, etc. It started in 2020. They plant 5 trees per product sold and have planted 3300+ trees in their first year of launch!

Purpose

The vision is to create a brand that offers sustainable, stylish & functional products with innovative, earth-friendly materials of the highest quality. They plant 5 trees per product sold and measure their growth with the number of plants they have grown.

People

Clan Earth was created to help generate employment for local artisans and vulnerable communities in Kolkata. They work directly with local experienced artisans to handcraft each and every product. Their artisans are the backbone of the company and are the most integral part of their team. They also train people from financially vulnerable communities and offer them different roles in the start-up ranging from artisans to packaging.

They also ensure the employment of rural women in their planting projects in partnership with reforestation organizations.

Planet

They use completely plastic-free and natural raw fabrics and materials. Their packaging is plastic-free and also made from agricultural waste or recycled. It is home compostable. With this, they were able to keep 1.5+ tons of plastic away from landfills and water bodies. Their shipping and production are climate-neutral as they offset that with the planting of 5 trees per product made. They planted 3325 saplings in their first year of launch in partnership with reforestation organizations that employ local people to plant the saplings and take care of the saplings till they mature.
