In the heart of Chhattisgarh, the Kosala Livelihood and Social Foundation, led by the visionary Hindalco, stands as a stalwart champion of the Kosa silk craft cluster. Dedicated to preserving age-old traditions, this foundation meticulously fosters sustainable livelihoods for artisans while upholding ethical practices and ecological balance. At the core of their mission is the elevation of artisans, showcasing their timeless mastery on a global stage. The golden-hued, strong, and soft Kosa silk, sourced from the Antheraea mylitta silkworm on Sal, Saja, and Arjun trees, finds its roots in central India. Chhattisgarh, with its unique end-to-end handloom process deeply ingrained in its cultural fabric, is home to the Dewangan community. These revered artisans, the guardians of Kosa silk, embody ancient mythological blessings, weaving tales of divine craftsmanship passed down through generations. The foundation's commitment transcends commerce, embracing a profound connection between tradition, sustainability, and the global stage.
