Nimmit is a Sanskrit word meaning a platform that connects people or brings people together. It is a medium between artisans and a world of consumers who appreciate the beauty of great products skilfully created by hand.
Purpose
Nimmit is focussed on nurturing artisans for generations to come. They do this by helping craftsmen come together and reach more audiences across the world, by investing and providing the community, design inputs to help create better products.
People
Nimmit acts on the idea of connecting and collaborating in ways that are focused on nurturing the beauty of Indian arts and crafts to all corners of the globe. This directly helps the artisan get more work and satisfaction of developping and innovating something new all the time.
Nimmit does not limit its search or work to limited clusters or a particular category of work, it tries to work with women organizations and small groups of women. This helps not just them but also incentivizes them to teach the younger generation and thus keep their craft alive. The no. of artisans they work with ranges from between 300-1000 with approx. 60-70% being women.
Planet
Environment is at the heart of everything that Nimmit does. Their commitment to environment-friendly operating practices is demonstrated through compliance with all applicable government regulations as well as implementation of waste management practices, promoting waste reduction and recycling. They also work to reduce pollution by maximized use of biogas fuel/ biodegradable fuel and energy inputs. Their focus is also on promoting the development and use of sustainable facilities and thereby continuously striving for a greener working environment.
