Inspired and rooted deep in the culture and heritage of Banaras (Varanasi), Veaves offers premium quality and conscious products, while seamlessly weaving together traditional Indian craft with contemporary taste. They aim for creating a lifestyle that celebrates design, understands quality over quantity, and lives responsibly. Veaves offer products that blend heritage with contemporary in a fashion that gives it life beyond its years, and an aesthetic that appeals to the global palette. They use waste fabrics by adding value to them. Applying their philosophy of beauty in imperfection, they believe in making use of every handwoven craft and waste left from making the products, while generating substantial livelihoods for the artisan and weaver communities.
Purpose
Veaves started with Stoles, Dupattas, and Running Fabrics at its inception, and now have a range of home linen and ready-to-wear collection. Their products reflect the values and stories of multiple cultures. Each of their products has undergone a unique journey in its creation. From handloom fabric in Kashmir, to design in Varanasi, and finally, being embroidered in Bengal. Although each fabric follows a different path, they harmoniously unite the voices of the weaving community from various regions across the country who contributed to their creation. Their products are 90% made of pure, elastic, natural fibers like cotton, silk, and linen, which are eco-friendly and biodegradable.
People
Veaves places their talented artisans at the heart of their mission, acting as the driving force behind their commitment to the handloom culture. With unwavering determination, these artisans weave their threads and wield their needles, bringing designs to life. They work closely with 25-30 artisans out of which 60% are women, who diligently craft our products using 85-90% of handwoven materials. Their vision extends to providing a platform for these artisans to showcase their exceptional talent and, in the near future, establishing a weaving school that will foster their craft and grants it the recognition it truly deserves.
Planet
With a commitment to minimizing waste, Veaves focuses on using pure, elastic, and natural fibers such as cotton, silk, and linen, which are both environmentally friendly and biodegradable. By utilizing these fibers, the products have a longer lifespan compared to synthetic alternatives, thus reducing overall waste generation. In addition, the production of these natural fibers consumes minimal energy, resulting in low CO2 emissions, and they possess electrical resistance properties. To further enhance sustainability efforts, their manufacturing units are equipped with water treatment plants that efficiently treat and reuse water previously used for dyeing processes. Moreover, the packaging materials for the products are biodegradable, aligning with their dedication to promoting a healthier and greener lifestyle for both customers and the planet.
