Aadyam Handwoven is a corporate social initiative of the Aditya Birla Group. They are working with the weaver communities in India to create a self-sustaining ecosystem for the artisans of the country. The aim is to create sustainable livelihoods by supporting and selling their crafts.
Purpose
They strive to preserve old weaving techniques that have seamlessly transcended generations of artisan families. By marrying these techniques with contemporary design they aim to create beautiful pieces that are globally appealing, and will help retain the roots of these intricate crafts.
AADYAM HANDWOVEN believes in creating scale and impact by building sustainable models that will create value for both, its weavers and patrons.
People
Their goal is to support weavers by opening up new markets and ensuring benefits to the weaver through a transparent plough back of profits. 294 artisans out of which 75% are men and 25% are women across the 3 clusters that they are currently working with. During the recent pandemic times, they took care of their artisan community by conducting vaccination drives.
