Purpose
AnanTaya practices fair trade promotes the empowerment of women and supports artisans’ livelihoods through innovative design, meaningful storytelling, and effective manufacturing processes. The vision is to promote artisan made products as a way of life, thereby creating profitable businesses that provide sustainable income to skilled artisans.
People
The idea behind AnanTaya is bigger than AnanTaya itself, an idea that can bring hope to millions of craftspeople across the world. Having impacted more than 10000 artisans, they give regular work to about 400 + artisans, infusing life in languishing crafts: Birdcage making village of Sultana, Palm-Leaf basketry of Geejgarh. The enterprise works with crafts clusters like Thathera metalwork, metal casting, Tarkashi wire inlay, Naqqashi, Stone-Lathe work, Horn cluster, Kharadi woodturning, Blockprint, Bhuj-weavers, Terracotta pottery, Miniature Painting, Stone inlay, Tarkashi wire craft, Thikri glass craft, Dhokra craft, Felt Namda Cluster, Dhurrie weaving. Impact on the overall sector triggers livelihoods through entrepreneurial artisan ventures and inspires young designers to take on craft entrepreneurship.
Collaboratively, they hope to directly, indirectly impact a million artisans in an honorable and sustainable manner.
Planet
Anantaya Products are designed keeping in mind that if something works well, and is not rooted in a particular time, the object will be used for longer, thereby keeping it from going into landfills. Materials sourced sustainably, or inherently sustainable have a direct impact on their ecological footprint. They use a lot of recycled materials, fabrics, aluminum, recycled teak. They also use plantation timbers like mango and sustainably harvested oak. A lot of the products are finished in oils or water-based paints. MAAHI ROJ', the world’s first festival centered on Conscious Living and Care for the Planet. Founded by AnanTaya, MaahiRoj is a sustainable hyperlocal festival. They provide exposure to the community, mentoring the next generation to join the cause and impact livelihoods.
