In 2017, Bageeya was founded by Jigisha Shukla, a 31-year-old entrepreneur who switched careers from civil engineering to fashion design. Her interest in dyes has been driven by curiosity. Bageeya is a sustainable fashion brand that promotes eco-friendly fashion. They handcraft their range with natural and handwoven fabrics like organic cotton, Linen, Silks, and Chanderi procured from weavers across India. Their collection includes natural and eco-dyed unisex shirts, stoles, reversible kimonos, sarees, chunaris, and zero-waste earrings and neck pieces. The Unique style of our brand is the versatility of their collection, which appeals to various moods and occasions with detachable sarees, reversible kimonos, and reversible dresses.
Purpose
Bageeya’s mission is to spread sustainability with affordability and utility to the masses that want to bring a change in the pattern of fashion consumption. They aim to develop a sustainable model of business while working towards conservation of the environment without compromising on fashion.
People
Their efforts are directed towards achieving minimum wastage incurred during the entire natural process of textile production, reducing environmental pollution caused by the textile industry, and supporting the livelihood of Indian weavers. Bageeya aims to create a positive social impact by promoting sustainable fashion and making it accessible to all.
Planet
At Bageeya, they believe in the power of sustainable practices to create positive change. By incorporating temple flowers into their clothing production and reducing water pollution, they take a step towards fostering a more sustainable future. In India, temples receive an abundance of flowers as offerings. Instead of letting these flowers go to waste or adding to the pollution by discarding them in water bodies, Bageeya collects and repurposes them for their clothing. Advocating for sustainable fashion and working towards the conservation of the environment without compromising on fashion by creating the infrastructure to solve the limited and slow production of naturally printed textiles. Utilizing handwoven textiles to boost the market for Indian weavers and reducing wastage incurred during the entire natural process of textile production, the brand is working towards creating a holistic impact.
