Dāk India is a handmade clothing and accessories brand launched in 2021 with the idea to explore handwoven Indian textiles and create essential artisanal goods. The brand works directly with artisans from several states to provide support and value to its products and thus achieve sustainable production. As a business working towards zero waste, the brand creates upcycled collections with material offcuts in between their capsule range. The brand is passionate about fair trade, and their core values are supporting artisans and makers while providing a fair living wage.
Purpose
Dāk India is working towards mutual learning from artisans of Indian handmade crafts. That provides value to each and every item they create. They aim to create an achievable sustainable business model that impacts many great artisan groups who are continually working towards preserving their traditions and practices. The brand is working consciously towards minimizing waste generation.
People
Dāk as a handmade brand works directly with artisans and makers. Their collections are currently being hand-woven and handmade by artisan groups from Kutch, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Dharamshala depending upon the item being produced. They try and introduce new artisan groups and their craft through their platform every time a new collection is planned.
Planet
They use materials ranging from Cotton, Organic Cotton, Wool, and many more for producing their collections which are dyed using azo-free and natural dyes. As a zero-waste brand working towards a sustainable setup, Dāk India creates upcycled collections to reduce their textile waste into newer goods.
