People
They are currently working with artisans in Gujarat who weave locally sourced staple cotton which is grown organically. The threads are later dyed with either natural ingredients or azo-free dyes. The cotton used is called Kala kapas.
Planet
Patrah uses sustainable processes from seed to stitch. Starting from using the staple Indian cotton which is grown in drought-prone areas of India. The cotton used is grown organically avoiding impact on the soil and saving water. This cotton is then spun on an amber charkha. They use dyes made of natural ingredients to dye these threads which are later woven on handlooms. The fabrics are softened by water infused with natural materials like alum. All the processes are chemical-free which helps lower the environmental impact caused by the wastewater. Their packaging is also biodegradable and plastic-free.
