Punarjeevana is working towards reviving local weaves, local skills, training and empowering women artisans in the region. The handloom cluster uses renewable energy wherever necessary, recycling of water and dye waste is passed through effluent treatment. Punarjeevana is known for its revival sarees of Karnataka and their significant feature of "Reversible ready to wear zero maintenance sarees.
Purpose
The revival of languishing crafts led to the formation of Punarjeevana Trust to sustain the craft and artisans. Punarjeevana was founded by Researcher and Designer Dr. Hemalatha Jain in 2015 on the principle of sustainability and circular fashion. Punarjeevana is known for its revival sarees of Karnataka and their significant feature of "Reversible ready to wear zero maintenance sarees.
People
Punarjeevana is working towards reviving local weaves, local skills, training and empowering women artisans in the region. They are working with 55 women artisans and 12 men from the region.
Planet
The Punarjeevana handloom cluster uses renewable energy wherever necessary, recycling of water and dye waste is passed through effluent treatment. Its working towards sustaining artisans, craft in tandem with environment. The traditional designs are derived from the historical research and ethnographic study conducted by Dr. Jain. The derived designs are further channelized into beautiful color and weave intervention to match the fashion demand. Their product process runs on the sustainable model - slow fashion using natural resources to maximum.
