Purpose
Purulia Sabai actively empowers village women while aiding the small village Mirgichami, nestled within Purulia's dense forest. Collaborating with craftsmen, they go through the intricate process—from harvesting to rope and braid making, followed by dyeing—before crafting the final products, thus making a significant impact. The women within the village weave storage containers, wall plates, home decor, and home utility products. Purulia differs from the other Sabai weaving products as artisans intertwine the Sabai grass with palm leaves to make all the products.

Due to water scarcity and limited agricultural land, cultivation alone isn't sufficient as the primary income source. Instead, they support local weavers and artisans, essential bearers of our heritage, motivating future generations to uphold and advance these crafts. Through Sabai grass weaving and crafting home utility baskets, women in the village are gaining independence, elevating these crafts to a commercial level.
