Purpose
Special Hands of Kashmir is driven by a purpose deeply rooted in the cultural, social, and economic fabric of Budgam. Sozni embroidery, a centuries-old craft, offers vital livelihood opportunities to hundreds of artisans—many of whom are differently-abled—while preserving the artistic heritage of Kashmir. For this community, Sozni is more than a craft; it is a powerful expression of identity, resilience, and pride. Each hand-embroidered piece tells a story, reflecting generations of tradition and unmatched skill. Through this initiative, the voices and artistry of marginalized communities are not only seen but celebrated—ensuring their work continues to inspire and thrive in the global textile landscape.

People
Special Hands of Kashmir creates meaningful social impact by providing dignified employment to differently-abled artisans, empowering them with financial independence and a platform to showcase their talent. By fostering inclusion, the initiative not only preserves traditional Sozni embroidery but also nurtures confidence, community, and self-worth among its artisans. Currently supporting around 100 weavers, the collective is committed to expanding its reach—training more individuals from underrepresented backgrounds and ensuring that this heritage craft becomes a vehicle for empowerment. Special Hands of Kashmir stands as a powerful example of how traditional art can drive social change, promote equality, and uplift lives with purpose and pride.

Planet
Special Hands of Kashmir is deeply committed to environmental sustainability, weaving eco-conscious values into every thread of its Sozni embroidery. By using natural, biodegradable fibers such as cotton, wool, and silk, the collective honors traditional practices while minimizing environmental impact. Avoiding synthetic chemicals and relying on low-impact, hand-embroidery techniques, the artisans embrace a slower, more mindful approach to textile creation. Each piece reflects a harmony between craft and conservation—where heritage and sustainability are not separate ideals but interconnected principles. Through their work, Special Hands of Kashmir proves that preserving tradition can go hand in hand with protecting the planet.
