The brand’s mission is to help women from zero-income backgrounds build meaningful livelihoods through skill development, fair income, and creative collaboration. By reimagining the timeless art of crochet through a modern design lens, The Mango House bridges heritage and contemporary relevance, giving this traditional craft a renewed purpose in today’s world. Inspired by the strength and generosity of the mango tree, the enterprise seeks to nurture its community from the ground up rooting women in confidence, self-reliance, and growth. Every creation embodies this vision of empowerment through design, where beauty, purpose, and social change come together seamlessly.

The women artisans form the heart of the enterprise—receiving training, mentorship, and fair employment that empower them to build sustainable futures. Beyond providing livelihood, The Mango House fosters leadership and confidence, enabling women to make independent decisions and take charge of their lives and communities. Each handcrafted product reflects their creativity, resilience, and pride. Founded by Rupinder Kaur, a designer, entrepreneur, and academic, the collective is supported by a passionate team including Ruchi Bhakoo (Lead Designer & Innovation Specialist), Kavita Pandya (Craft Development Head), Rashmi (Production & Centre Coordination), and Samreen (Artisan Training & Mentorship). Together, they blend design, sustainability, and social purpose to transform craft into a force for empowerment—celebrating the artistry and strength of Goan women.

Rooted in the inherently zero-waste and circular nature of crochet, the brand deepens its commitment to the planet by using natural, recycled, and upcycled materials. By working extensively with overstock, unbleached, and non-dyed yarns, The Mango House minimizes chemical use and textile waste, ensuring every creation treads lightly on the earth. Its packaging remains simple, biodegradable, and eco-conscious, while repair services encourage longevity and mindful consumption.
