Purpose
“Terra” is the Latin word for earth, extending to oneness with nature. It is a manifestation of living more sustainably. The Terra Tribe designs contemporary clothing for people who are mindful of their impact on the planet. The brand is completely plant-based and PETA-certified.
People
The fabric used is hand-dyed using natural dyeing techniques and then passed on to making the garment by their skilled master and tailors. Every piece of clothing is made with care by partnering with ethical factories keeping quality, fair wages, and conscious use of resources in mind. The dyeing process involves 10 artisans and the stitching process involves 2 people. /p>
Planet
They use 100% locally manufactured Tencel is used for the entire collection, made from responsibly sourced wood pulp using minimal non-renewable resources. 65% of the energy needs of their fabric partner come from renewable sources through their own windmills. The water footprint for this fabric is only 5% compared to traditional cotton. They are proud supporters of innovation, the use of one-of-a-kind vortex spinning technology enables a carbon credit of 30% compared to conventional spinning. Plant-based dyes coming from Indian madder vines, natural indigo, iron vinegar, and leaves are used. The entire waste management process is kept closed-loop helping them build a strong relationship with nature.
