With N. started as a side gig in 2019, and only a year later, became a full-time pursuit for its founders, Nishtha & Nikhil. Their clothes are slow-made, and weaver oriented, exploring the vast variety of textile across different regions in India. They are working to blend handlooms with fresh silhouettes-those which are practical, modern, and classic. The brand’s clothes are supposed to be worn often and through seasons and years. A lot of their designs stem from the thought of what they would wear in their everyday lives. They marry simplicity with detailing. They bear a subtle obviousness; they're apparent but with an effortless charm!
Purpose
With N. springs from the routine, the mundane. It is an exploration of handwoven textiles that seamlessly blend into your daily routine. The brand’s vision has slowly evolved into one of making handloom for every day. One important aspect of the same is making our clothes accessible, as an alternative to fast fashion. To have people understand the beauty and the necessity of the handloom and appreciate where it comes from is what we are truly driving towards!
People
They work with handloom weavers and weaver clusters across India, but a large part of their work is centered around West Bengal and Gujarat. They have been able to fuel the growth of their main weaver partner in West Bengal, helping him increase the strength of independent artisans he has involved in With.N’s work.
Planet
As makers of a conscious clothing brand, With.N believes that each small step counts in making a difference to the environment. All their clothes, including the cloth bags used in packaging are woven on the handloom. They work with mostly natural and azo-free dyes. They have limited their packaging to the bare minimum, and only use recycled or recyclable materials. Their packaging can also be reused. They only create based on ‘Made-to-order’ model, thereby reducing instances of excess inventory and dead stock. They also encourage clients to clear doubts, if any, regarding the size so they get fit right the very first time. Small actions like these go a long way in ensuring you limit your carbon footprint by not initiating multiple shipments in exchanging the garment. They also leave margins on most of our garments so they encourage clients to have them altered locally when possible.
