Purpose
Yaana is more than a textile brand—it’s a purpose-driven movement rooted in conscious living and community revival. Founded in 2017, Yaana is one of Bangalore’s first zero-waste, sustainable weaving units, pioneering eco-friendly innovation through upcycling, recycling, and mindful textile design. The brand’s mission is threefold: to curb the migration of skilled weavers into unskilled labor by offering dignified, consistent work; to empower socio-economically marginalized women artisans with meaningful livelihoods; and to foster a unique ecosystem where tradition and technology coexist. At Yaana, every thread tells a story of resilience, sustainability, and cultural pride—where heritage crafts meet contemporary purpose for a more equitable and sustainable tomorrow.

People
Yaana is deeply committed to creating lasting social impact through its weaving community and empowerment initiatives. By offering stable, year-round employment to skilled weavers, the brand ensures sustainable livelihoods and dignified work. Its Women-Run Weaving Support Centre actively involves women in the pre- and post-weaving processes, fostering inclusivity across the craft ecosystem. Yaana also drives skill development by training socio-economically marginalized women in jewelry making, stitching, tassel making, and hand embroidery, alongside Spoken English classes that help artisans gain confidence and improve communication. Through its “Sustainable-Textile” awareness programs, Yaana promotes textile recycling, having distributed 1,500 school bags made from recycled fabric and reached over 5,000 students—including those from government schools—with workshops that cultivate awareness about sustainable practices. At its core, Yaana builds not just products, but empowered communities.

Planet
Yaana operates as a true zero-waste weaving unit, committed to minimizing environmental impact at every step. Beyond weaving new textiles, the studio actively recycles and upcycles fabric, transforming post-industrial recycled yarn into new weaves and accessories. Every material used is 100% eco-friendly—ranging from organic cotton to banana fiber, a sustainable by-product of agricultural waste. The entire manufacturing process is free from harmful chemicals, making it safe for both the planet and the people involved. By prioritizing sustainable materials and thoughtful production practices, Yaana proves that conscious design and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand—creating textiles that are not only beautiful, but regenerative in spirit.
