Bird-Friendly Bundle
The Bird-Friendly Bundle is a tribute to one of the world’s most numerically successful group of vertebrates! Birds have feathers (most), beaks and wings and the only birds without wings have ended up extinct! Birds perch (most), lay eggs and live across the world…although their closest living relatives are crocodiles. In fact birds and crocodilians (crocodiles, alligators and gharials) are the the sole survivors of a much larger group called Archosaurs (think dinosaurs of a certain era). But birds and crocodilians split sometime in the Triassic which arguably led to birds being more empathetic and better parents (this isn’t our conclusion, read in a scientific journal somewhere).
Birds are also amongst the most widely studied group in coffee agroforestry systems across the world. In India, a host of ecological research shows how birds can be dramatically affected when coffee farms intensify production through the use of pesticides or more importantly, through removing native trees from farms or replacing native trees with exotics like silver oak.
This bundle pulls together three birds, the Whistling Schoolboy, Frogmouth and the Black Baza.
The Whistling Schoolboy (our nod to Salim Ali) is our filter coffee blend - also a smush of Arabica, Robusta but with a boost of chicory, as a Medium Dark Roast.
The Frogmouth is a washed Arabica, Medium Roast from The Nilgiris, as a Medium Roast.
The Black Baza is a washed and fermented Robusta from Kodagu, as a Dark Roast.
