Amalgam is a women-led, sustainable fashion enterprise. They aim to empower artisans from all levels of society, and their artisanship appreciates the upcycling process, which it reflects in every clothes they make.
Purpose
Their mission is to enlighten customers on the importance of slow fashion and circular living. They have designed clothes in their collections that can be worn repeatedly. Their clothes are made in small batches by artisans using sustainable upcycled fibers and non-toxic natural dyes. Their collections consist of carefully handcrafted pieces with a story behind them.
People
Amalgam provides employment opportunities for artisans and has supported them, especially during the pandemic when everything was shut down. They have a team of eight who are working directly to curate sustainable clothing. All of the pieces are crafted with the utmost care, with a lot of thought put into the concept of every collection that they make and thorough research and development for every raw material used in making them. They also provide healthy working conditions for our artisans, with feasible working hours, regular work breaks, and weekly offs. All the artisans are rewarded for their talent equally.
Planet
They are conscious of creating minimal waste and saving the environment. They don’t encourage plastic in any part of manufacturing or packaging. All the fabric waste produced is upcycled and reused as much as possible. The aim is to create a better environment for Mother Earth and every living being residing on it.
