Vishnature is a home-grown small enterprise founded in 2020 and based in Kampli, Ballari district (near Hampi). Their products are made from banana fibers and jute using crochet and macrame techniques. They work to increase women empowerment through their enterprise and strive to promote sustainable products. During the COVID 19 pandemic, an idea led to the beginning of everything. Vishwanath Aundakar was sitting idle in his home in Kampli, when he observed that his surroundings were full of banana plantations. That was it- he had an idea for something to be created using banana plants. And this was how “Vishnature” was born. Vishnature as the name suggests, is the intervention of nature aligned with sustainability. Aiming to harmonize human needs with the natural environment, it ensures its preservation and promotes long term ecological balance.
Purpose
With an aim to support, highlight and preserve India’s craft and handicraft heritage, Vishnature makes products which are handmade and handcrafted with the best quality of raw materials. They hope to spread positivity with their beautiful, durable and sustainable products. They believe in empowering women through supporting and encouraging women's livelihoods. They love everything sustainable, and hence use all natural raw materials. Vishnature as a small enterprise recognizes the importance of creating a positive impact on both the environment and society. It aims to inspire and influence others to contribute to a more equitable society and build a more sustainable future for all.
People
Women empowerment at its core, Vishnature proudly boasts of a team of 18 women artisans. Each artisan is involved in making the products and practises different techniques. Vishwanath, the owner manages the marketing, sourcing of the raw materials, packaging orders, looking for designs, and product development. Out of the 18 women artisans, 6 are involved in making products from crochet, while 5 of them make products using macrame. 1 of them does all kinds of stitching work using a sewing machine. The remaining 6 work from their homes, make ropes from banana leaves and supply them to the unit. Vishnature hence influences, inspires and empowers society through its people.
Planet
Vishnature contributes to the well-being of the planet through its commitment to eco-friendliness, sustainability, transparency, and responsible manufacturing practices. They have a huge variety of products ranging from fashion to lifestyle products like hats, bags, hangings, lamps, baskets, trays, rugs, etc.- all handmade from natural raw materials. These materials include banana ropes, cotton ropes, jute ropes and cotton threads. 70% of the products at Vishnature are made using banana fiber ropes. Each part of the banana plant is used in some or the other way such as sustainable packaging with the help of the banana bark thus ensuring minimum wastage. All the raw materials including banana bark are sourced locally, thus contributing to a low carbon footprint.
