Fall Activities with Kids

Fall is a beautiful time of year to get outside with kids, to celebrate the changing of the seasons, and soak up that last bit of sunlight before darker winter days arrive.  Check out some of our favorite fall activities to do as a family.

   1. Fall scavenger hunt

A great way to appreciate the change of the season is to go on a fall scavenger hunt. Depending on the age of your kids, you can make it more or less complicated, for example, finding leaves with different numbers of points, different colors, or even teaching them the names of the trees that they come from.

   2. Leaf Prints

This project starts with a nature walk with your kids to collect leaves in all shapes and sizes.  Once you have them, you’re ready to get painting with a few materials you may already have around the house.

Materials

  • Paint
  • Construction paper
  • Newspaper
  1. Cover the leaves in paint
  2. Place the paint side down on the paper
  3. Cover with newspaper, and rub pressing down
  4. Peel up the newspaper and the leaf and enjoy!

    3. Fall snow globes

This fall craft is easy to create, and very customizable. Start out by spending time outside and collecting leaves and other materials for your globe, then follow the instructions here to make your fall masterpiece!

Happy play time! Let us know in the comments how these projects turn out for you, and be sure to keep an eye out for more ideas in the future.
