Description
Odissi is the most graceful forms of Indian classical dance forms. Here the artist depicts a dancer taking a stance during her performance. The art work is created using two distinct approaches. A complicated process of preparing the base and then working on two sides of a carefully beaten down copper sheet creates stunning pieces of wall art. A customised base of natural lac is prepared depending on the intricacies of the art work. The copper sheet is then hammered with precision of a goldsmith to draw the design or pattern. Once complete the sheet is flipped and chasing is done on the front to complete the art work. The finished art work is then treated with special reagents to add character to the work. A protective layering is finally added to preserve it from corrosion, rendering it practically maintenance free for life. These unique pieces of art come mounted on a tastefully designed textured jute background in a complimentary natural wood finish frame.
